After our installation ceremony on January 6th, your Divan honored me with a Lifetime Achievement Award and declared me an Honorary Potentate of Saladin Shriners. Not only was I surprised but I am truly humbled and honored. I have always believed that it is an honor just to be a Mason and a Shriner and have valued the fellowship and friendships over the years. I cannot express how much I appreciate being honored this way. It was truly a humbling moment.
The Stated Meeting was well attended with an impressive installation administered by Illustrious Sir Scott Sanford, PP, and Noble Bart LeVan. Thanks to our Illustrious Potentate Jon Duley and his staff, it is truly inspirational to have our Shrine returning to the protocol of pomp and circumstance even including the bagpiper! Look for more of our traditions in the coming years.
Our first Friday of the month socials continue to be hugely successful and the February and April socials included a mini ceremonial with new candidates. Good work Nobles! Our socials are well attended by the Ladies, so Nobles put it on your calendars and bring your Ladies for a great night of getting to know new members and renewing old friendships. As you know, our Illustrious Potentate will be scheduling at least 2 Socials outside of Grand Rapids this year. Let us know if your Club would like to host one.
We have been exploring new temple fundraising opportunities where your Clubs can also participate and benefit financially. One idea is a gun raffle. Many other temples have successfully done this. Some of our Saladin Nobles have visited the very successful Moslem Gun Raffle and we are researching holding one in Grand Rapids. Would you be willing to serve on a committee to develop this new temple fundraiser? Call me – we already have volunteers and a chairman. I challenge you to be part of the solution to find a new fund raiser for our Temple.
Nobles, bring a fellow Noble and plan on attending the May 19th Stated Meeting and BBQ. Bring your new members to our First Friday Socials so they can be initiated and enjoy some fellowship with the Nobility and their ladies.
And finally, we welcome financial contributions from your clubs to support your Temple. Let’s honor the past and embrace the future.
God Bless You,
Harry Jones, Chief Rabban
