Assistant Rabban Excited About Saladin’s Next Steps

Remembering the past he looks forward to what the future holds for Saladin

With the year over half through, and the eclipse of the sun behind us, it seems that we have been running at a fast pace through 2017. Sadly, we have lost several brothers who were great friends and active members of our Shrine. Losing a noble always makes me stop and think about the future of Saladin. I reminisce about when I joined over thirty years ago when the clubs I belonged to always encouraged members to participate in temple activities. It seemed we would have eight or ten new Shriners and prospects at every temple event and eighty to one hundred nobles and their wives in attendance. The Stated Meetings and Ceremonials give us a chance to get to know our brothers and see old friends. Let’s bring the brotherhood back into the Shrine. Let’s go beyond your club and unit meetings and attend our Temple events. Let’s support the Temple by committing to regular attendance. Let’s participate enthusiastically. Now that we have a three year lease, your Divan is working on plans for remodeling our new facility on the sixth floor at the Grand Rapids Masonic Center. Nobles, this is an exciting time for Saladin as we establish our new home. At our Stated Meeting the Divan will present our strategic plan focusing on a new era for the nobility, incorporating growth and sustainability. On a lighter side, our summer activities and parades are about over for the year. Many or our clubs have exciting events planned for the fall. The Scarabs in Grand Rapids are planning a Meat Fest III after the September 23rd Stated Meeting. All are invited. Attendance at our first Friday of the month socials is growing. Join us – you’ll love it – great food, great conversation, great fun! Our Potentate’s Ball is on October 14th. Tickets are still available. Call 616-942-1570. “A Night with Frank” promises to be a fabulous evening. We hope you’ll come.
